Kazakhstan and Egypt have agreed to increase weekly flights between the two countries from 14 to 48, and the permitted destinations from two to three for each side, QazMonitor reports citing the Civil Aviation Committee.
What happened: On May 6, the Chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee Saltanat Tompiyeva met with Hesham Abdel Baset, Head of Air Transport Central Administration at the Ministry Of Civil Aviation of Egypt, in Astana to discuss aviation cooperation.
Following the negotiations, both sides agreed to increase the total number of authorized flights between the countries from 14 to 48 per week. They also expanded the permitted destinations from 2 to 3 for each side.
The countries also increased the number of assigned carriers for the established routes. In addition to Air Astana and SCAT, Kazakhstan assigned FlyAystan to operate regular flights between the countries. Meanwhile, the Egyptian side added Red Sea Airlines and Nile Air to the list of carriers operating flights to Kazakh cities. The list currently includes Egyptair, Egyptair Cargo, and Air Cairo.
The Committee also reported that the airlines from both countries can engage in commercial agreements with each other.
