China Southern Airlines Increases Flights on Almaty–Urumqi Route

China Southern Airlines will increase the number of flights on the Almaty–Urumqi route starting May 30, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Transport.

Flight: The airline will increase the number of weekly flights from two to three, using Boeing 737 aircraft, which can accommodate between 128 to 178 seats.

Urumqi to Almaty: The starting price for a one-way ticket in economy class for the May 30 flight from Urumqi to Almaty is CN¥1,617 or ₸99,264 ($223.74). The flight duration is 1 hour and 50 minutes, departing at 10:20 a.m. from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport and arriving at 9:10 a.m. at Almaty International Airport. All times are local – Urumqi is UTC+8, while Almaty is UTC+5.

Almaty International Airport is located 20 km northeast of the city center, with a taxi ride to downtown taking around 30 to 40 minutes.
