The minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev met with Francesco Lollobrigida, Italy’s agriculture and food sovereignty minister, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry’s press service.
During the meeting in Rome, Karashukeyev noted that Kazakhstan exports wheat, meslin, and vegetable products to Italy while importing chocolate, wine, coffee, and various sauces. The agricultural trade between the two countries in the first five months of this year amounted to $130 million, with export and import volumes showing a 51.5% increase period-over-period.
To further enhance this positive trend, Kazakhstan is prepared to offer ample opportunities for investment in the agricultural sector, providing financial support measures and tax preferences. Individual investors can directly negotiate an agreement with the Kazakh government for the implementation of large projects.
Regarding cooperation prospects, the Kazakh side expresses interest in joint projects focused on agricultural processing, such as grain deep processing and the production of infant nutrition.
Francesco Lollobrigida accepted the invitation to make an official visit to Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to further cooperate in the investment direction.
