On April 13-19, the Slovenian city of Portoroz hosted the annual European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), where team Kazakhstan won four medals, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry of education.
The EGMO, considered the most prestigious mathematics competition for high school girls, has been held annually in April since its launch in 2012. Bringing together some 60 countries, the competition is open to female contestants from around the world.
Our country has been represented in the competition since 2017. This year, our team competed against 240 high school students in the individual math assignments and tasks.
Merey Temirzinova from Astana, Anastassiya Odintsova from the Pavlodar region, and Akerke Nurakhmetova from Almaty were each awarded a silver medal, while Amira Kenbayeva from Almaty won a bronze medal.
