The Government of Kazakhstan adopted a decree for the period until 2048 on the establishment of a special economic zone (SEZ) G4 City in the Almaty region, QazMonitor reports.
G4 City will be located north of Almaty city along the 80-kilometer highway A3 (Almaty-Konaev). The territory will be under a special legal regime, which will provide a favorable climate for attracting domestic and foreign investment while reducing the capital cost of building facilities.
According to the master plan, it will consist of four thematic areas:
– Gate City – a business and financial center
– Golden District – an educational and medical hub
– Growing District – industrial, trade, and logistics zones
– Green District – a tourist cluster
By 2048, the city is planned to attract about ₸3.7 trillion in investment, produce more than ₸17 trillion in goods and services, and create about 60,000 jobs throughout the SEZ.
The city is expected to be home to about 2.2 million people.
