One in Seven Businesses in Kazakhstan Is in Creative Industry

Creative industries account for 13.8% of all legal entities registered in the country

As of January 1 2023, the creative industries comprised 248,200 active legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, or 13.8% of all legal entities and 13.1% of all individual entrepreneurs registered in the country, QazMonitor reports citing Atameken analytical center.

Region-wise, Almaty is the creative leader with 48,000 subjects registered in the city, followed by Astana with 37,500 companies, and the Karagandy region ranks third with 17,700 enterprises. The smallest number of creative enterprises are registered in the Zhetysu region – 5,300 enterprises and in the Ulytau region – 2,400.

Earlier, the ministry of culture and sports proposed a classification system for enterprises belonging to the creative spheres in order to provide them with financial support. The draft decree will be open for discussion until April 5.
