Astana joined the international organization United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) during the 2022 UCLG Congress World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders in the South Korean city of Daejon from October 10-14, QazMonitor reports citing Astana city council’s press service.
UCLG is the world's largest international organization of local governments recognized by the United Nations, with 240,000 municipalities, regions and megacities from 140 UN countries.
Mayor of Astana Altay Kulginov was elected co-chair of the UCLG.
Participation in the organization will enable member countries to exchange experience, raise pressing issues and promote their comprehensive solutions, present the potential of cities, and attract more investment to the city among others.
