Malaysia is ready to share its expertise in computer chip manufacturing with Kazakhstan. In addition, the corresponding ministries of both countries plan to hold meetings to address import and export issues, QazMonitor reports citing Akorda.

What happened: On May 16, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Astana for an official visit and met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. They discussed expanding trade and economic ties and cooperation within the UN, CICA, and OIC.

  • During the meeting, President Tokayev stressed that the Kazakh government is ready to assist Malaysian companies in implementing projects in Kazakhstan.

  • Currently, citizens and businessmen of both countries benefit from a mutual 30-day visa-free regime and direct flight links.

We can maximize the benefits of the growing economic relationship, and we have concrete proposals. We plan to hold bilateral meetings with your ministers on imports and exports. Malaysia has a huge commodity market and has become a regional hub for computer chip manufacturing, with significant investments from the US, Europe, particularly Germany, and China. We believe we can share our experience in this field and learn from your successful transformation efforts. Of course, there are some specific areas [of interest] such as the halal industry, we are also keen on exploring the prospects of Islamic banking.

said Anwar Ibrahim.
