Kazakh–Japanese Bilateral Trade Turnover Reached $2.2 Billion

Kazakhstan and Japan have affirmed their dedication to enhancing bilateral relations in economic and social areas, QazMonitor reports citing primeminister.kz.

What happened: On April 30, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Roman Sklyar, met with the Ambassador of Japan in Astana, Jun Yamada. During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of Kazakhstan-Japan cooperation. Sklyar highlighted the importance of further enhancing trade, economic, and investment ties, noting that bilateral trade turnover increased by 13.8% to $2.2 billion at the end of last year.

  • According to the Trade Ministry's latest data, trade turnover from January to November 2023 surpassed $2 billion, marking a 16.5% increase compared to the same period last year. During this period, exports to Japan amounted to $554.3 million, while imports from the East Asian country reached $1.5 billion.

  • Following the meeting, both parties agreed to continue their efforts to strengthen Kazakh-Japanese relations in economic, social, and other areas.
