The Astana International Airport issued a storm warning from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for January 10, citing wind speeds ranging from 22 m/s to 27 m/s and cautioning about potential flight delays or cancellations, QazMonitor reports citing the airport’s press service.
As of now, the airport notes significant snowfall at the airfield, accompanied by a wind speed of 10 m/s and gusts reaching up to 15 m/s.
While 75 flights are scheduled at the capital's airport for today, seven flights have encountered delays due to technical issues. So far, there have been no reported delays or cancellations of flights due to adverse weather conditions.
To address the heavy snowfall, ten units of specialized equipment are working on clearing the airfield.
