The runway renovation at Astana International Airport is scheduled to start in late March 2024, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Transport.
The airport held a meeting on the planned renovation with the participation of relevant government agencies and organizations. The meeting was chaired by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev.
During the discussions, the parties emphasized that the renovation is a key and priority task since the airport was placed under the trust management of the foreign investor, Emirati logistics company Terminals Holding. The airport's current runway was commissioned two decades ago, and until now, only repairs to airfield coatings have been conducted.
The project will be funded privately by the investor and is scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
