The world's largest aviation business fair Passenger Terminal Expo 2023 in Amsterdam has recognized Astana’s international airport as the best regional airport in Central Asia and the CIS region, QazMonitor reports.

The airport has received one of the most prestigious awards in the global airport industry, the World Airport Awards. It is considered a benchmark of quality that evaluates the level of customer service and amenities of more than 550 airports around the world.

The winners are determined through a survey filled out by airport customers over an 8-month period. The survey evaluates the effectiveness of KPIs – check-in, arrival, transfer, shopping, security, and passport control at check-out.

According to Daulet Khamzin, the airport’s board chairman, Astana topped the list for the second consecutive year.

"Astana airport is the second busiest airport in Central Asia and the 12th busiest among the post-Soviet countries. Our airport is the base for a number of foreign airlines and major domestic carriers," said Khamzin.

He added that thanks to the development of digital capabilities, passengers now have the opportunity to check in and track flights, as well as pay for them online.
