Kazakhstan's top-ranked doubles player Anna Danilina, paired with the Finnish player Harri Heliovaara, has advanced to the semifinals of the US Open mixed doubles in New York, QazMonitor reports citing the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
The Kazakh-Finnish duo defeated Xu Yifan (China) and Joran Vliegen (Belgium) with a score of 7:5, 7:6, tallying nine aces and committing five double faults, while the opposing pair made eight aces and three double faults.
In the semifinals, Danilina and Heliovaara will face the winners of the match between the Czech-Mexican pair of Barbora Strycova and Santiago Gonzalez and the Japanese-Croatian duo of Ena Shibahara and Mate Pavic.
