Turkish agriculture company Gen Group has launched a 5.3-hectare greenhouse banana plantation in the Turkistan region, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture.
The facility is equipped with climate control, and an adaptive nutrition system will be employed to cultivate bananas that have been specially bred and adapted to the local climate. The first crop is projected to be harvested within six to eight months. Additionally, the facility will implement the cultivation of tomatoes and strawberries.
In the near future, the greenhouse will be expanded by another five hectares, enabling the production of approximately 1,000 tons of bananas annually. The initial stage of the project costs $4 million.
