FIFA has updated the world rankings, placing the national men’s team at 104th place, noting Kazakhstan’s solid performance over the qualifiers for the UEFA Euro 2024, QazMonitor reports citing the international federation’s press service.
The national team won three out of four matches of the qualifiers, securing victories against Denmark (3:2), San Marino (3:0), and Northern Ireland (1:0), with their only loss coming in the opening match against Slovenia (1:2). As a result, the team has now moved to the top of Group H.
The international federation highlighted Kazakhstan's significant climb of 8 positions outside the top 100. Alongside Kazakhstan, other notable climbers include Togo (122nd, up 7), Tanzania (123rd, up 7), and Moldova (164th, up 7). However, this isn't the highest position achieved by our men's team. In 2016, they secured the 83rd place in the global standings.
Interestingly, the men's team's performance falls behind that of the women's team. Presently, the Kazakhstan national women's team holds the 99th place, with their highest standing being 58th, achieved in 2009.
