National Automotive Industry Grew by Over 40% in First Half of 2023

Economy minister Alibek Kuantyrov reported on the state of national industries in January-May

The minister of national economy Alibek Kuantyrov reported on the situation in the national industries for the January-May period of this year at the government meeting in Astana on June 13, QazMonitor reports.

Several manufacturing industries showed notable growth, such as mechanical engineering – 31.9%, electrical equipment production – 37.8%, and automotive manufacturing, which experienced a rise of 40.8%. Additionally, the food and light industry, as well as the production of refined petroleum products, construction materials, beverages, and plastic products, also demonstrated an increase during the given period.

The economy minister noted that the production volume in the mining industry increased by 1.3%, while gas and oil production rose by 1.3% and 2.4% respectively. The extraction of other minerals grew by 20%.

The report also pointed out decreases in the production of metal ores by 0.5%, mining industry services by 7.3%, and coal mining by 8.5%.

"The volume of construction works grew by 12.1%. Positive dynamics were recorded in 18 regions, with the greatest growth of construction and installation works observed in the Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, and the Zhetysu regions," added Kuantyrov.
