Tax Free Pilot Project to Be Prolonged Until End of 2024

Considering expansion of geography and increase in the participants number, the Tax Free pilot project’s terms might be extended by 18 months up to December 31, 2024, QazMonitor reports.

The operator of the pilot project, Global Blue Kazakhstan LLP approves these measures. Shymkent city administration has expressed interest and willingness of business representatives to participate in the pilot project.

The Tax Free project is currently implemented at several stationary trade sites in Astana, Almaty and Turkestan to promote the development of tourism in Kazakhstan. Tax Free offers compensation of VAT amount to individuals who are citizens of foreign countries when purchasing goods worth at least 20 MCI.

The deadline for public hearings on the draft order for the extension of the project is until June 8, 2023.
