On May 10, the economy minister Alibek Kuantyrov held talks with the ambassador of Japan to Kazakhstan Jun Yamada regarding bilateral economic cooperation, QazMonitor reports citing the ministry of national economy.
In 2022, the volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $1.9 billion, which is a 71.3% Y/Y increase. In light of this positive trend, the parties discussed ways to strengthen trade and economic relations, attract Japanese enterprises to Kazakhstan for joint development of production and energy-efficient technologies, as well as develop ties in education and tourism.
Ambassador Yamada confirmed Japan's desire to develop close cooperation with Kazakhstan.
“Despite the fact that Japan and Kazakhstan are geographically far apart, our countries' economic interests coincide and have a long-term, mutually beneficial nature,” noted the diplomat.
