The Cabinet will remain in office until the approval of the new composition

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Akorda.

"In accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Article 4 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan", in connection with the resignation of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan before the newly elected Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan I hereby resolve:

- The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to perform its duties until the approval of the new composition of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan," - says the text of the decree.

On March 19, 2023, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov answered the journalists' question on whether the government is ready to resign.

"In accordance with the Constitution, the government resigns before the newly elected parliament. We are resigning, and until a new government is formed, we will be performing our duties. Who will be the new prime minister is up to the president and the new Majilis. Naturally, we are ready for any turn of events to work for the good of our country," Smailov said.
