Qazaqstan Monitor: Aktau Athlete Sets New Pull-up World Record

Ildar Yagyaev won the world pull-up championship in Finland. More than 200 athletes from over 20 countries competed in six weight categories. The total prize fund amounted to 10 thousand euros.

Ildar from Aktau competed in the weight category of up to 70 kg. He managed to pull up with a weight of 96.5 kg, thereby setting a new world record.

He is a 6-time world champion and the president of the Mangistau region’s Federation of streetlifting.

"Our main goal is to popularize streetwalking and streetlifting in our region, and the country as a whole. We organize free training sessions, fly out to training camps. The plan is to find a sponsor and build a training area on the waterfront, like Muscle Beach in Los Angeles. We are open for cooperation."
