The press service of the Civil Aviation Committee has reported the opening of a new air route between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

According to the Committee, Uzbekistan Airways will commence regular flights on the Almaty–Nukus air route starting June 1, 2024.

The flights will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, utilizing Airbus-A320 aircraft with a capacity of 174 seats.

This brings the total number of international flights from Kazakhstan to 567 per week, serving 121 routes across 28 countries.

Background: On May 11, the Ministry of Transport reported that talks were held in Tashkent in 2023 between the two countries' aviation authorities. During these discussions, the sides agreed to more than double the number of authorized flights on various routes. For instance, the routes from Astana to Tashkent will increase from 12 to 36 flights per week, while those from Almaty to Tashkent will rise from 20 to 36. Additionally, other routes will increase to up to four flights per week.
