On September 30, the eQonaq information system recorded its millionth international tourist to Kazakhstan this year, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Kazakh Tourism.

The traveler hailed from China and embarked on a 4-day journey to Almaty, where he chose to stay at the Rahat Palace Hotel. Chinese tourists hold the third position among all foreign visitors, with more than 70,000 Chinese travelers recorded in eQonaq since the beginning of the year.

The first place is currently shared by tourists from Russia and Uzbekistan. The list of the top 10 countries contributing to Kazakhstan's tourism industry includes visitors from India, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Tajikistan, Germany, Mongolia, and the United States. Among these, Almaty was the most visited city, welcoming 343,000 tourists, followed by Astana with 174,000 tourists.

In the list of top visited regions, the Almaty region secured the leading position with 62,000 tourists, followed by the Atyrau region with 58,000 tourists, and the Mangystau region with 52,000 tourists.

The eQonaq information system, developed by JSC NC Kazakh Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, MIA, and the National Security Committee, is designed to record foreign visitors and monitor the tourist flow. The system also performs the task of migration control.
