With much of the world reopened, 2023 promises to be a year of travel. The largest country in Central Asia—Kazakhstan—is gearing up to pull in more adventure seekers by giving its tourist infrastructure a much-needed upgrade. Charyn Canyon, the crystal blue lakes of Almaty, and Mangystau’s powdery gorges—there are a lot of geographical wonders waiting to be explored.
And the good news is—you most likely do not need a visa to visit our country. In 2023, Kazakhstan has a visa-free regime for citizens of 81 countries, according to MFA.
For your convenience, QazMonitor compiled lists on visa-free travel for citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign countries. The hope is that, whichever passport you hold, you will have an easier time planning your next dream vacation. The list only includes information on visa exemptions for holders of regular passports.
Countries whose citizens can visit Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 14 days
The updated list for 2023 includes only 4 countries: China, India, Iran and, Hong Kong.
Countries whose citizens can visit Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 30 days
The updated list as of January 2023 includes 63 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Turkiye, Vatican City, Vietnam, and the UAE.
The visa-free regime is applicable to business trips, tourism, and private visits. This visa-free regime prohibits working in Kazakhstan.
Citizens of the Dominican Republic can visit Kazakhstan for up to 60 days visa-free.
Countries whose citizens can visit Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 90 days
As of January 2023, Kazakhstan has a 90-day visa-free regime with 13 countries: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
The visa-free regime is applicable to business trips, tourism, and private visits, but prohibits working in Kazakhstan.
Important information for foreign travelers to Kazakhstan
The hosting party has to notify the migration service of your arrival in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This must be done within 3 working days from the foreigner's arrival date.
Notification can be submitted:
in paper form to the department of the Migration Service
online through the visa and migration portal
online in the system eQonaq.kz

Which countries can citizens of Kazakhstan visit without a visa?
The early 2023 list of visa-free destinations for Kazakhstani citizens is as follows:
for up to 365 days: Georgia
for up to 180 days: Armenia, St.Vincent and the Grenadines
for up to 90 days: Albania, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Colombia, Costa Rica, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkiye, and Ukraine
for up to 60 days: the Dominican Republic
for up to 30 days: Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Ecuador (within every 180 days), Nicaragua, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Qatar, Serbia, South Korea (no more than 60 days within every 180 days), the UAE, and Uzbekistan
for up to 28 days: Barbados
for up to 14 days: Hong Kong, Iran, Oman
Kazakh citizen can obtain a visa on arrival in the following countries: Egypt, Zambia, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, Thailand
For most countries from this list, however, the stay can vary if determined so by the visa conditions. Also, some countries require you to register your stay via online services or on arrival.
In Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, the stay period can be determined by a labor contract.
In Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, the length of stay is determined by the terms of the temporary residence permit.
