Vice-minister of Culture and Sport Yerzhan Yerkinbayev said during a press briefing that foreign tourists spend on average $1,500-2,000 during their trip to Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports citing Kazinform.
According to the minister, the National Bank’s calculations estimated the average spending to range between $1,200 and $1,500, while the Tourism Industry Committee gave a higher estimate of $2,000. The discrepancy lies in the coverage of services rendered: the Bank calculations included only the statistics on card transactions, while the Committee considered cash-based transactions as well.
Yerkinbayev also mentioned that Kazakhstan has been lifting COVID-related restrictions on international flights and now operates 112 flights with 28 countries. He listed 78 countries with whom Kazakhstan enjoys a visa-free regime. In most cases, the country has established the visa-free regime on a parity basis, with the recent addition of Andorra, China, Iran, and India.
