New York Mayor Eric Adams shared a video of a Kazakh boy playing the dombyra on his Instagram page on October 26 following a Kazakh flag raising event in Manhattan, QazMonitor reports.
The NIS graduate, Zhusipkhan Amanmyrza, performed a kui called Yerke Sylkhym for guests and onlookers. The ceremony was organized to celebrate the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Thanking Mayor Adams in her turn, the general consul of Kazakhstan in New York Raushan Esbulatova spoke at great length about the historical value of the national holiday. The Kazakh diplomat noted that more than three decades ago on the same day, Kazakhstan accepted the Declaration on state sovereignty, signaling the first step of our country towards Independence.
