The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has recognized Kazakhstan's Bibisara Asaubayeva as Asia's best female chess player of 2021, Qazmonitor reports.
The 18-year-old received the "Best Female Chess Player of Asia 2021" award at the 44th Chess Olympiad taking place in Chennai, India until August 10. The title is the latest in her steadily growing list of accolades.
Earlier this year, Bibisara made history by becoming the first Kazakh chess player to hold a Guinness World Record as the youngest world champion in blitz among women. At the age of 17, the young prodigy holds several titles, including World Blitz Champion (2021), International Master (2020) and Woman Grandmaster (2019).
At present, Bibisara is competing in the Olympiad as part of the Kazakh national team. As a result of the ninth match, the women's team moved up from sixth to third place in the ranking after defeating Bulgaria 3-1.
