Kazakhstan participated in an online forum on women's development forum "30 years of PRC-Central Asia Relations" hosted in Dalian, China on July 13, Qazmonitor reports citing Delovoy Kazakhstan.

The main task of the forum was to discuss the results of joint work between China and Central Asia in the field of women's development over the past 30 years, exchange experiences and best practices, as well as promote the goals of the Sustainable Development Agenda.
More than 200 delegates from the People's Republic of China, five Central Asian countries and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took part in the forum.
The delegations of the countries were represented by women leaders, heads of state organizations on women's affairs and women's organizations, prominent specialists in the field of health care, science and technology, ambassadors of Central Asian countries, and diplomats of international organizations.
Kazakhstan assumed its obligations to uphold the protection of women's rights after signing the Beijing Platform of Action in 1995 and ratifying the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in 1998.
Aida Balayeva, chairman of the National Commission for Women Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy, delivered the welcoming speech.
According to Balayeva, an important step towards the political promotion of women's rights was the introduction of a 30% quota for women and young people in electoral party lists in 2020 on the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan.
The goal is to achieve a 30% share of women in decision-making. Today, Kazakhstan is recognized as a leader in gender mainstreaming in the region. At the Global Forum "Generation of Equality," dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, which was held in Paris last June, President Tokayev announced Kazakhstan's commitments to the coalitions of multilateral partnerships on gender violence and economic justice.
She added that Kazakhstan has taken on the role of sharing its experience in the sphere of gender equality with neighboring countries, providing assistance and participating in joint humanitarian missions.
For example, on a regional scale, Kazakhstan has initiated a joint program with the European Union to train Afghan women at universities in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The participants of the forum also highlighted that, in the last 30 years, relations between China and Central Asia have made initiatives for creating favorable conditions for women's development, including consolidating women's role in "The Belt and Road Initiative".
