Kazakhstan's Mikhail Shaidorov won silver at the World Figure Skating Championships, which took place in Tallinn, Estonia, from April 13-17.

Making history

The 17-year-old came in second after completing four lutz, three axels, and four toe loops, which gave him a total score of 234 points.

Shaidorov's achievement will go down in Kazakhstan’s sports history as its first-ever medal in the world youth figure skating championships.

The athlete made a few comments during a press event.

"After the last World Junior Championships, we had to quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and I used that time by practicing a lot outside the ice outdoors. There were only a few competitions during the pandemic, so I developed well and performed well."

Previously, Mikhail Shaidorov could not participate in the 2022 World Figure Skating Championships, held in Montpellier (France) from March 21 to 27 due to the fact that he was denied a visa. However, the French embassy in Kazakhstan said that no visa application for Shaidorov was received and the embassy is not aware of the refusal.
