Following the results of bilateral negotiations and a meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the president of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov made a joint statement at a briefing for media representatives.

"We have reached a consensus that there should be no unresolved issues between our countries. Special attention should be given to strengthening trade and economic ties. Kazakhstan is one of Kyrgyzstan's key partners in trade and investment. Last year, mutual trade turnover reached $1.5 billion. During the negotiations, we expressed our interest in increasing this figure to $2 billion. Overall, there are ample opportunities to significantly boost mutual trade turnover in a short time frame. We are prepared to export industrial and other goods. Kazakhstan can already increase exports to Kyrgyzstan across 195 commodity items, totaling $260 million,"

said President Tokayev during the press briefing.
