On March 5, the Ministry of Finance decreed changes in border crossing fees for road vehicles, QazMonitor reports citing the Electronic Standard Control Bank of Regulatory Legal Acts.

What it means:

  • The regular fee remains unchanged: The passage of trucks, semi-trailers, and tractors booked in the electronic queue will require a standard fee of 1 Monthly Calculation Index (MCI), equivalent to ₸3,692 ($8.26 as of March 11, 2024). NOTE: The border crossing fee using the electronic queue is charged in tenge.

  • Expedited procedure: The fee for the accelerated procedure now charges 100 MCIs, or ₸369,200 ($826.47).

The decree takes effect on March 18.

Background: Previously, the expedited procedure for border crossing had two gradations. In the case of passage within five days from the date of payment, it was 50 MCIs, and within thirty days, it was 100 MCIs. The gradation is now omitted due to redundancy, as the expedited procedure assumes the readiness of the vehicle to pass through the border.
