Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliyev, and Uzbekistan's Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, recently engaged in discussions regarding the implementation of agreements signed during President Tokayev's December 2022 visit to Uzbekistan, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry’s press service.

The agreements, outlined in the Roadmaps, included the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion. In the first 11 months of 2023, trade turnover between the two countries reached $4.1 billion, highlighting the commitment to strengthening cooperation.

In May 2023, as part of the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, a trade mission led to Kazakh manufacturers securing export contracts totaling $44.1 million. The contracts span various sectors, including construction materials, confectionery, IT services, and dairy products.

In December 2023, the Central Asia International Center for Industrial Cooperation was established at the Kazakh-Uzbek state border, aiming to boost domestic product exports to Uzbekistan, with ongoing efforts directed towards creating and developing the necessary infrastructure for this industrial zone.
