The Kazakh delegation is participating in the 67th annual General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. The delegation delivered a report on the main areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the agency, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Energy.

On September 25-29, the capital of Austria is hosting a forum for discussing strategic issues in the nuclear field, which is attended annually by representatives from 177 member states of the agency.

Kazakhstan was represented by Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev, who informed the participants about the current work within the framework of the IAEA's technical cooperation program. The Minister mentioned the agency's support in establishing the production of radiopharmaceuticals, and in the nuclear industry specialists training.

Furthermore, the IAEA provides consultative support regarding the planned construction of a nuclear power plant in the country, including the conduct of missions. In this regard, in March of this year, an agency’s mission was conducted to assess the readiness of Kazakhstan's nuclear infrastructure for the decision to build a nuclear power plant.
