On August 29, world no. 4 Elena Rybakina started off her US Open run with a confident victory over Marta Kostyuk, concluding the match with a score of 6:2, 6:1 and advancing to the second round, QazMonitor reports.
The last Grand Slam of this season began successfully for the Kazakh player. Rybakina defeated her opponent in one hour and 24 minutes, conceding only three games to Kostyuk. Throughout the match, the Kazakh player scored two aces and committed four double faults, while her opponent hit four aces to three double faults.
Elena Rybakina will be facing Ajla Tomljanovic in the second round on August 30.
