The volume of Internet consumption in Kazakhstan has surged by 2.8 times, soaring from 356 PB (1 petabyte = 1024 terabytes) in 2018 to around 1,000 PB in 2022, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, Aerospace Industry.

To address concerns about Internet quality and tariff plans in Kazakhstan, as well as public services and the operation of digital services in the face of increasing daily consumption and public outcry over poor Internet quality, the ministry organized a media briefing.

During the meeting, the ministry representatives informed the public of the ministry’s meeting with the executives of domestic mobile network operators (MNO). The ministry directed them to present an action plan for enhancing the speed, quality, and network connectivity of the Internet.

In response to the recommendations, the operators will conduct briefings on tariffs and improvements to Internet quality at the Central Communications Service in Astana. The event is scheduled for August 11 at 12.00 a.m. and will be attended by representatives from MNO and the Digital Ministry.
