The 7th World Championships in hand-to-hand combat held in Astana ended with a triumph for Team Kazakhstan. The fighters took first place in team rankings, winning 21 gold, 19 silver and 21 bronze medals, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of the ministry of culture and sport.
The event took place June 16-18 in the capital. The tournament gathered over 300 athletes from 32 countries, including Kazakhstan, Germany, India, Italy, Spain, Mongolia, Thailand, Turkey, Czech Republic, Switzerland and other countries.
The Kazakh athletes didn't let their fans down, confidently winning first place overall and surpassing the Russian and Uzbek teams, who had seven gold medals each.
