The customs authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have switched to an enhanced mode of operations along the border in order to increase throughput capacity, QazMonitor reports citing the state revenue committee.

The committee said in a statement that both parties held meetings and checks of all checkpoints on the Kazakh-Uzbek border in the Turkistan region, reaching an agreement to streamline the customs clearance processes.

Over the past ten days, the regional authorities have provided the following data regarding customs clearance:

– the Kazygurt checkpoint – 2,243 trucks underwent customs control

– the B. Konysbaeva checkpoint – 4,280 trucks underwent customs control

– the Atameken checkpoint – 1,796 trucks underwent customs control

The average clearance time per vehicle was reported to be between 2 and 3 minutes.

The committee advises drivers and carriers to monitor the checkpoint workload and the current queue for passage through the CarGoRuqsat automated electronic queue system, and the webpage of the state revenue committee of the Turkistan region.
