Kazakh weightlifter Arli Chontey, competing in the under 55 kg category, won a bronze medal at the Jinju Asian Weightlifting Championships 2023 in South Korea, QazMonitor reports citing Zakon.
Chontey was unmatched in Snatch, lifting a weight of 117 kg and leaving behind Ngo Son Dinh from Vietnam (117 kg) and Mansour Al-Saleem from Saudi Arabia (116 kg). However, he ceded in the Clean and Jerk competition, lifting 141 kg and ranking fourth, as Vietnamese and Saudi competitors took the podium.
Due to the good results in the first competition, the Kazakh athlete took third place on the podium with a total weight lifted of 258 kg.
