China Nonferrous Metals Mining, a major Chinese processor and distributor of metal products, plans to build a copper smelter in Kazakhstan, QazMonitor reports.
China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. is a state-owned enterprise that supplies domestic and international markets with aluminum, zinc, nickel, tantalum, niobium, and other non-ferrous materials.
During the meeting with the company’s deputy general director Liu Yu, industry and infrastructure minister Marat Karabayev noted the company's success in implementing such large-scale projects as the Kazakhstan Electrolytic plant, the Aktogay copper plant, and the Bozhakol copper mine.
“Undoubtedly, we are interested in attracting investment for the implementation of modern and technologically advanced manufacturing facilities. For our part, we are ready to provide state support at all stages of project implementation," said Karabayev.
The design annual capacity of the plant is 300,000 tons of copper cathode. The implementation of the project involves significant capital investments and the creation of several hundred jobs in the long term.
