Askhat Oralov, the minister of culture and sports, met with the ambassador of France to Kazakhstan Didier Canesse and discussed the joint agenda for cooperation in sports and culture, QazMonitor reports.
The main topic of the meeting was the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. According to the minister, Kazakhstan will participate in a couple of events preceding the Games.
First, Almaty is expected to host a stage of the international children's relay race on March 14. Second, the culture ministry intends to organize several judo and karate exhibition events with the participation of para athletes as well as the breakdancing tournament.
As for cultural events, the parties discussed plans for organizing the Days of Kazakh Culture in France in 2025–2026. The ministry explored the possibility of holding a Kazakh arts exhibition at the Louvre and staging a concert in Paris for Kazakhstan’s rising musical talent.
Ambassador Canesse spoke about the French film industry's interest in working with Kazakh filmmakers. French film schools plan to develop a special program for Kazakh students while the local film distributors express an interest in cooperating directly with cinema theaters in Kazakhstan.
