The ministry of culture and sport plans to launch a voting platform on the Kazakh Cinema website that lets people choose which foreign films they want to see dubbed in Kazakh, QazMonitor reports.
According to an official statement, the authorities are currently working on changing the legislation on movie dubbing. The films will be selected for dubbing by an open voting system.
No further information regarding the types of movies and quota has been specified.
The ministry previously allocated ₸88,6 million for the Kazakh dubbing of Avatar re-release and its sequel Avatar: The Way of the Water, as well as Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Box office receipts for Avatar: The Way of the Water alone exceeded ₸70 million.
