Denis Nikisha won gold and a bronze medal at the World Cup in Almaty
He earned gold and bronze in the men's 500 meter event.
SPEED SKATING
Nadezhda Morozova won a bronze medal at the World Cup in Canada
The leader of Kazakhstan's speed skating team came in third in the women’s 1,500-meter event at the speed skating World Cup in Calgary, Canada.
WEIGHTLIFTING
Nurgisa Adiletuly won a silver medal at the World Championships in Colombia
He placed second in the 96-kilogram weight class.
SKIING
Ayana Zholdas won a bronze medal at the European Cup in Finland
She placed third in the women’s aerials at the FIS European Cup in Ruka, Finland. Her teammates Marzhan Akzhigit and Zhanbota Aldabergenova landed in the top 10 of the event placing 6th and 7th, respectively.
BIATHLON
Vadim Kurales won a silver medal at the IBU Junior Cup in Italy
He finished second in the men’s 15-kilometer individual competition at the IBU Junior Cup in Val Martello, Italy.
ICE HOCKEY
Kazakhstan finished second at the Ice Hockey Youth World Championship
Our team made it to the final where they lost to Norway. This result did not allow our team to break into the elite division of the world championship.
