Kazakhstan and France Sign Over 30 Documents for Strategic Partnership

Agreements were reached between Kazakh and French government bodies, businesses, and banks

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commenced his state visit to France with over thirty documents signed together with various French government bodies, enterprises, and banks, QazMonitor reports.

Some of the notable ones include the opening of French schools and a university in Kazakhstan in the coming years as well as Assystem's agreement with Samruk-Kazyna to assist in the construction of a nuclear power plant. Check the full list of agreements signed with France below.

1. Intergovernmental agreement between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France on the implementation of the construction of a 1 GW wind power plant (WPP) in Zhambyl region;

2. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Alstom Holdings SA on the basic principles for the implementation of projects, production and service of electric locomotives and equipment for rolling stock and railway infrastructure in Kazakhstan;

27. Memorandum of Understanding between the JSC "National Nuclear Center" RK and the French Agency for Nuclear Waste Management "ANDRA" on technical cooperation in the field of radioactive waste management;

28. Declaration of Intent between the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic concerning cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research;
