Kia Plans to Launch Kostanay Car Assembly Plant in 2025

The company also announced the deal to construct an automotive components plant

On April 23, in Astana, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Kia Corporation President Ho-Sung Song to discuss the Kia car manufacturing plant project in Kostanay, QazMonitor reports citing Akorda.

Plant: Ho-Sung Song informed the Head of State about the development of the construction of a full-cycle car production plant in Kostanay, which will be completed in 2025.

  • The project attracted more than ₸90 billion (as of April 24, 2024, $203,764,860) of investments. It is estimated to create 1,500 permanent jobs.

  • The productive capacity of the plant will be 70,000 cars per year, including 50,000 cars that will be produced using the complete knock-down assembly method denoting a higher share of local content.

  • The company plans for a pilot launch in Q1 2025 and full-scale production in Q2 2025.

The Korean side also discussed plans to attract global suppliers of automotive components. Ho-Sung Song announced the signing of a memorandum of intent with auto components supplier Seoyon E-Hwa to build a vehicle components plant in Kazakhstan.
