According to the National Bank, each tourist to Kazakhstan from non-CIS countries on average generates an income of $1,500. Each foreign tourist creates two workplaces, QazMonitor reports citing the Ministry of Culture and Sports reports.
Last year, nearly one million international tourists visited the country. As a result, taxes generated from the tourism industry hit a record of 389 billion tenge, while accommodation businesses earned 183 billion tenge.
"Over the past two years, Kazakhstan has significantly increased the number of people employed in the tourism sector, reaching almost 500 thousand workers. By 2029, the Ministry of Culture and Sports plans to increase the figure to 800 thousand people working in the tourism sector," said Vice Minister of Culture and Sports Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.
