Prime Minister: 24 Companies Relocated to Kazakhstan, 43 More Underway

In 2023, the government aims to launch 170 new investment projects in the industrial sector

On April 19, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov reported on the ongoing work regarding the socio-economic development of the country, QazMonitor reports citing the PM’s press service.

In 2023, the Kazakh government aims to launch 170 new investment projects in the industrial sector worth ₸1 trillion and create 15,000 new job opportunities. The authorities also seek to attract ₸18.3 trillion in investments this year, while developing a national pool of 873 investment projects worth ₸28.1 trillion.

PM Smailov also reported on the current progress on the relocation of international companies from Russia to Kazakhstan. To date, 24 international companies have moved their businesses to the country and 43 more are underway.

Two major projects are currently underway in the field of oil and gas – the Tengiz field is expanding with the construction of the fifth compressor, while the Karachaganak field is developing a marketable gas treatment project with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters per year.

Furthermore, Smailov mentioned that the Kashagan field is currently building a gas processing plant with a capacity of over 1 billion cubic meters. In addition, the field is also considering the construction of another gas processing plant with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters.
