Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will increase air traffic and expand the geography of flights, QazMonitor reports citing the Committee of Civil Aviation.
The agreement was reached during the meeting between Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Kairbek Uskenbayev and a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia headed by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Taufiq bin Fauzan bin Muhammad Al Rabia.
"Thanks to the joint work of the aviation authorities of our countries since 2015, SCAT and Fly Nas airlines began to perform direct charter flights one to two times a week all year round. This year, a quota of 4,000 seats for religious pilgrims from Kazakhstan was allocated and used," said the Head of MIIR.
From the beginning of 2023, a number of Kazakh airlines plan to organize regular passenger flights to Saudi Arabia: Air Astana on the route Almaty - Medina with a frequency of 2 flights a week and Fly Arystan on the route Aktau - Medina with a frequency of 2 flights a week by A320 aircraft.
On September 29, as part of the 41st session of the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO in Montreal (Canada), the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia will sign a memorandum of understanding that will give the right to designated airlines of both sides to increase the authorized number of passenger flights.
