Kazakhstan and Andorra have announced plans to implement a 90-day visa-free regime and have called for public discussion on the matter, Qazmonitor reports.

The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a draft resolution "On signing the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Principality of Andorra on the mutual exemption from visa requirements." The document will be up for public discussion until July 29, 2022.

The purpose of the agreement, as stated in the explanatory note to the document, is to develop close cooperation between Kazakhstan and Andorra and the establishment of a simplified visa-free regime.

With the new regime, the citizens of the two states will be "exempt from visa requirements for single or multiple entries, exit, transit, temporary stay on the territory of the other state for a period not exceeding 90 calendar days in each 365-day period from the date of first entry, and without prejudice to the obligations arising from the Schengen Agreement."

For Kazakh nationals, the specified period of 90 days starts from the date of the first entry into the Schengen area.

Valid travel documents from the Republic of Kazakhstan include:

- diplomatic passport;

- service passport;

- Kazakh passport;

- certificate of return.

Valid travel documents of the Principality of Andorra are:

- diplomatic passport;

- work passport;

- temporary travel document.

Citizens wishing to enter one of the countries for employment or study must obtain a special visa.

Andorra is a landlocked microstate located between France and Spain. Due to its special political and geographical position, you must obtain either a visa to Spain or to France with double entry.

In early May 2022, an agreement was signed between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Maldives on the mutual exemption from visa requirements, which allows citizens of both countries to enter and stay in Kazakhstan and the Maldives for a period not exceeding 30 calendar days.
