On July 10, 2022, a pilot project was launched in Russia to digitalize the state service of "Accepting and forwarding documents for the issuance of passports to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan staying abroad", QazMonitor reports citing MFA press service.

This project will allow citizens of Kazakhstan residing in Russia to apply to consular offices of Kazakhstan in Kazan, Omsk, St. Petersburg and Astrakhan to issue passports within 30 days instead of 80 days.

Currently, the electronic documentation system is successfully functioning in Kazakhstan's consulates in Germany (Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Hanover), the Republic of Korea (Seoul), UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai), Russia (Moscow), USA (Washington, New York, San Francisco), Uzbekistan (Tashkent), Japan (Tokyo), and Turkey (Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya).
