Kazakhstan could expect up to 500,000 tourists from India annually by 2026, says Prashant Chaudhary, the head of the first-ever representative office of Kazakh Tourism in the Indian market, QazMonitor reports citing the press service of Kazakh Tourism.

What happened: On February 22nd, in New Delhi, Kairat Sadvakassov, the Chairman of Kazakh Tourism National Company, participated in the opening ceremony of South Asia's largest international tourism exhibition, SATTE. As part of the exhibition, a representative for Kazakh Tourism in the Indian market was appointed. Kairat Sadvakassov awarded the corresponding certificate to Prashant Chaudhary, the Head of Salvia Promoters.

About the representative: The company specializes in promoting the markets of Central Asia and Russia. Over the years, Salvia has represented several cities and countries of our region as a visa center and promotion office. Chaudhary has over 20 years of experience in promoting and marketing territories.

With Visa-free travel for Indian passport holders, and three airline options having direct flights from Delhi as well Mumbai to Almaty, Kazakhstan offers to be a great short haul destination for Indian travelers. Other than Almaty, Indian travelers are now also traveling to Astana, Shymkent, which just comes to show the untapped enormous potential Kazakhstan holds.

Why it’s important: The agreement stipulates cooperation aimed at attracting tourist groups from India to Kazakhstan, as well as representing the interests of Kazakh Tourism in this significant outbound tourism market.

  • The company organizes annual tours for Indian journalists to all its partner destinations. The first visit to Kazakhstan is planned for the first half of 2024. “This should ensure significant coverage in leading Indian newspapers and travel magazines,” notes Kazakh Tourism.

  • According to Chaudhary, by 2026, Kazakhstan could potentially be hosting up to 500,000 Indian tourists annually, as the overall Indian outbound tourism market should reach over 50 million people.

“For Kazakhstan's tourism, this is a new step in international promotion. We are pleased that in India — one of the most promising outbound tourism markets in the world — we now have our representative. We plan to scale this experience to our other target markets.” Kairat Sadvakassov.
