Kazakhstan’s low-cost airline FlyArystan has launched free online check-in for international flights from July 3, 2023. The airline also announced that for departures from August 3, 2023, airport check-in for international flights will be a paid service.
"Low-cost carriers worldwide use this service to streamline airport check-in processes. The payment of the airport check-in fee by the end user gives passengers great motivation to switch to the free online check-in service. Using the online product reduces the number of passengers queuing at check-in counters and increases the speed of pre-flight procedures in the terminal," the carrier explains.
The company launched the product domestically on January 1, 2023. As a result, 80% of the low-cost carrier's passengers began checking in online for free. "This means that more than 1.3 million passengers took the opportunity to avoid congestion and queues at airports," the report noted.
"Unfortunately, the low-cost carrier encountered unforeseen obstacles when launching this service for international departures and decided to temporarily suspend the launch of this service until the issues are resolved. The airline will refund all passengers who have already purchased the paid check-in service at the airport. FlyArystan remains committed to this product and its digitalization strategy, which aims to develop Kazakhstan's aviation industry. It should be noted that the results of the transition to free online check-in service after the announcement of the launch of paid check-in at the airport for international departures from July 3 this year were overwhelming: more than 60% of passengers with tickets for international flights have already checked in for free online through the FlyArystan app," the low-cost carrier reported.
